Editor,

Yes, my husband just turned 75 but he will never be a senior citizen. Yet he loves the discounts he gets at the movies, restaurants, etc. So, I signed him up and we started going to the senior center. He enjoys the lunches, even playing bingo, telling stories and jokes, laughing in a cool, clean place. I enjoy not having to cook after raising four children, working out for 40-plus years and having a farm and ranch to keep up with. I was taken back to memories of the kids with homemade corn dogs and fries. We also had Dixon melon, a lovely macaroni salad and s’mores dessert (yummy). Corn dogs were such a treat for the kids, we didn’t eat out very often like they do now days.

I volunteered to help at the center and do what I could to keep it going for the community. The board voted to try some new things and comments or suggestions are welcome. There is a box inside the door if you want to comment. You need not sign and all comments will be known to the whole board.

So many people need a clean, happy place to have a wonderful, nutritious meal, laugh, tell stories, etc. We love new people, their stories and some new jokes would be wonderful. We hope to keep the St. Ignatius Senior Center going for everyone to enjoy for many, many years.

A big thanks to Blackfoot Telephone with the grant they gave the center for a new refrigerator and some building repairs.

Stop in, check it out, menus are available.

I know, we’ll never be senior citizens.

Joan Krantz
