Editor,

We Montanans want to maintain our public lands. The State Land Board continues to protect our land for us. Who is our State Land Board, you may wonder. It includes our top five elected officials: Governor Steve Bullock, the Secretary of State, Attorney General, Commissioner of Securities and Insurance and the Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Currently, each of these officers follows Governor Bullock in their belief that Montana’s public lands should remain available for the public’s use. That means you and me.

Montana’s pristine environment depends on our stewardship of the land. We need our elected officials to protect all our natural resources, the timber, surface land and minerals, for generations to come. Because of our State Land Board, we’re able to develop a wealth of businesses and jobs created by tourism and recreation. Sportsmen and families who live here and travel to Montana, enjoy hunting, fishing, hiking, swimming, canoeing, kayaking and more.

Greg Gianforte does not have plans to save our public lands, as you may well know by now. To ensure we maintain our pro-public lands, State Land Board, when you go to the polls Nov. 8, think about your vote.

We need to re-elect Governor Steve Bullock, along with his running mate, Mike Cooney. We need to vote Monica Lindeen for Secretary of State. Vote Larry Jent as Attorney General. Vote Jesse Laslovich for Commissioner of Securities and Insurance. Vote Melissa Romano for Superintendent of Public Instruction.
