News from Polson Loaves & Fish Pantry
POLSON — September through November is the Town Pump matching grant fundraiser for food pantries and food banks. Each dollar donated to the Polson Loaves & Fish Pantry during this period is matched by the Town Pump Charitable Giving Foundation.
This is our major fundraiser for the year, and while we are an entirely volunteer organization, the Pantry needs cash donations to operate and to purchase food to supplement that received through food donation.
Donations can be made in person at the Pantry at 904 1st St E Monday and Thursday mornings, Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or by mail at the above address.
Demand continues high for the Food Pantry’s service. In the month of August the Pantry served 328 households, including 397 children, 733 adults, and 132 seniors, and gave out more than 24,000 pounds of food. The Pantry also served 2,400 pounds of emergency bread and milk to an additional 241 households in August. For the year-todate there have been 3,850 household visits resulting in a distribution of nearly 200,000 pounds of donated and purchased food to our neighbors who are food insecure.
On a related note, the Polson Loaves & Fish Pantry needs a few concerned and active volunteers to help with picking food up at the grocery stores and also some folks to help with the distribution of food on give-out days. If you are interested in helping please call manager Bryan River at 406- 546-1283 for information or stop in during the hours given above for a look-see.
