POLSON — With all business concluded in 11 minutes, Polson Mayor Pat DeVries banged the gavel to close the Polson City Commissioners’ meeting in time for everyone to get home and see most of the Kentucky Wildcats vs. Kansas Jayhawks basketball game.
Focusing more on outside pursuits, Dorene Parise, chair of the Envision Polson beautification committee, came to fill in commissioners on plans for “clean-up, green-up” Polson during the month of April. While she encouraged commissioners to work within their wards to clean up lawns, Parise also said community volunteers will meet at Riverside Park on May 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and May 6 from noon to 5 p.m. to clean up parks and streets. Committee members will hand out gloves and trash bags and assign areas to volunteers, and then everybody will head out to work.
Parise added that yard waste will be picked up curbside in Polson on Friday, May 11.
After all the spring work, maybe a trip to Richwine’s Burgerville would be in order. Declaring April 20 Burgerville Day, Mayor DeVries presented the proclamation to Marcia Moen and Lucille Richwine.
In other business, City Attorney James Raymond told commissioners he had finished revision of the proposed impact fee revision. City department heads are reviewing the document, and then commissioners will get a chance to review and vote on it, probably at the next meeting on April 16.
Raymond also congratulated Polson Police Department Officer Michelle Scott on her graduation from the Montana Law Enforcement Academy.
