Editor,

Please join me in supporting Dan Salomon for Senate District 47 and Johanna Clark for House District 93. It’s been an honor and privilege serving as the Representative for House District 12 - Polson over the past four years. If reelected, I look forward to working with legislators like Dan Salomon and Johanna Clark who will support common sense legislation to promote natural resource development, control spending, lower taxes, support agriculture and push back on federal overreach.

Salomon and Clark’s opponents, Tom France and John Fleming, both have records that illustrate their inability to effectively represent and advocate for the citizens of Lake County and rural Montana. I previously supported John Fleming’s run for the legislature as his campaign treasurer and as his brother-in-law. Fleming’s voting record in the 2009 legislative session did not reflect my values and solutions for Montana, and sending him back to Helena would not be good for Lake County or the State of Montana. John’s support of a Missoula environmentalist like Tom France over lifelong Lake County resident, farmer and legislator Dan Salomon only provides further evidence that John is out of touch with rural Montana values. Electing Tom France would be detrimental to our economy and our way of life in Montana and Lake County. France is the regional director for the National Wildlife Federation and, along with friends like the Sierra Club, has mounted continued attacks on Montana’s natural resource industry, pushed for continued expansion of wolves and has used the Endangered Species Act to shut down timber harvest on National Forest land.

Fleming and France are nice individuals, however, friendships need to be put aside when electing legislators to represent what is right for Montana’s future. I encourage my fellow Lake County residents to support candidates who will support our farming, ranching, natural resource economy and push back on federal overreach. Let’s not elect environmentalist who are out of touch with our values. Dan Salomon and Johanna Clark are the right choice for Lake County and Montana.
