Editor,
Summer has been good at the Miracle of America Museum with visitors from all 50 states by May, visitors from 50 countries, six Canadian Provinces and two Territories by October.
Fall brings many changes. Some museums and tourist related businesses close during the so called ‘off season.” We at the Miracle of America Museum, Polson, remain open, but have shortened our hours slightly to 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1:30 to 6 p.m. Sundays. Some holidays may be shorter hours as well, so it is best to call 406-883-6804 to make sure.
Our free “Night at the Museum” is on the fourth Thursday of each month with varied programs starting at 6:30 p.m. Donations or treats are always welcome. Schoolteachers are encouraged to give extra credit for a report from attending students.
The Halloween season sets the stage on the 27th of October for two ghosts to appear and tell about their mortal experiences. Polson’s namesake David Polson will be making a repeat appearance, and his daughter Agnes is a newcomer this year. After a short program, a tour will commence down photograph alley discussing the then and now of early day photographs of the area, some prior to 1910. A short discussion will decide whether to pursue a local cemetery program similar to Missoula’s Stones and Stories annual program in which the living play the part of a relative or dignitary at the grave site.
Guests are encouraged to bring a family heirloom or early photographs to share. Check our website or Facebook for upcoming programs.
