‘Placeholder’ statement false

Editor,
I feel the need to respond to Catherine Vandemoer’s recent letter. Given that I have knocked thousands of doors in our district to talk to voters about the issues that matter here in Lake County, I have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that I am not running as a “placeholder.” This assertion is false. If elected, I fully intend to serve my term and would be proud to represent the folks in HD 93.
As a retired history teacher of 40 years, I felt very strongly about teaching my students to check their sources, making sure they were passing along information that was correct and true. This letter is an example of that not being done. Catherine’s letter was based on hearsay and conjecture, and this is not a responsible way to talk about a most important choice that voters in HD 93 face.
I look forward to continuing my conversations with voters in HD 93 about how I can best serve them if elected.
Thank you for allowing me to respond to this.
John Fleming
HD 93 candidate
