John Warren Hewitt

MISSOULA — John Warren Hewitt, 75, of Polson, passed away Saturday, Oct. 22, at St. Patrick Hospital. Born Sept. 7, 1941, in Kalispell to Patricia Kimes and Louis Sindt, he was adopted at age two by Margaret and George Hewitt.

Raised in Kalispell, John moved with his family to Yellow Bay where he began his freshman year at Polson High School. Upon graduation, he was employed at the Polson Plywood Mill and Dupuis Lumber, followed by 31 years as Maintenance Supervisor at the Lake County Courthouse.

On May 22, 1965, he married Judy Cordis of St. Ignatius. They lived in Polson and enjoyed 51 years of marriage. Johnny’s sterling example of kindness, honesty, and family values left deep impressions that were instilled in his daughter and grandchildren.

Upon his retirement in June of 2007, he began fulfilling his desire to devote more time in sharing with others his knowledge of Bible truths, such as God’s promise at Isaiah 25:8, 9 that death will be done away with forever through God’s Kingdom.

His hobbies included playing piano for family and friends and assembling intricate car and airplane models. As most of Polson knew, Johnny’s trademark was his infectious laugh.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Jonalyn (Andy) McLellan of Billings; granddaughter, Sierra (Andrew) Rickert of Columbia Falls; grandson, Sheldon (Kelsey) Johnson of Polson; the apple of his eye, great-grandson Bellamy Johnson; son-in-law, Dave Johnson of Polson; and two brothers, Russell Sindt of Columbia Falls and Larry (Mary) Roberts of Great Falls.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 5, at 2:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Polson.
