Charlo falls to Superior in Western C showdown

CHARLO – The Charlo football team fell to a talented Superior Bobcat team 44-32 Friday in an early-season Western C battle in Charlo. Superior jumped out to a quick 16-0 lead early on, before the Vikings rallied to cut the deficit to 23-18 at the half.
Tra Ludeman threw three touchdown passes, and brought his team to life with a 75-yard kickoff return. Other Vikings to put up touchdowns include Kolten Andrews with a 10-yard pass, followed by Jacen Petersen’s 50 yard pass reception, and a 40-yard pass to Stephen Delaney.
On offense, Andrews had 5 receptions for 51 yards, while Jacen Petersen pulled in 4 catches for 56 yards. Ludeman was 15 for 24, passing for 144 yards. The Vikings finished with 96 attempts for 434 yards of total offense.
On defense, Andrews had eight tackles and 17 assists, while Ludeman brought down six tackles.
For the Bobcats, Billy Smith rushed for three touchdowns to help his team earn the win. Smith completed 21 of 36 passes for 204 yards. He connected with Matt Campbell in the second quarter for his lone passing touchdown.
n the ground, Superior running back Kevin Ryan ran 24 times for 83 yards, including a touchdown.
With the loss, Charlo improves to 1-1, while Superior is now 2-0.
The Vikings play Lincoln on the road Sept. 9.
