EUREKA – Ronan’s Chiefs and Maidens tamed the Lions in Eureka on Saturday.

Micalann McCrea scored a team high 23 points as the visiting Maidens roared over the Lions, 67-40. The score was close after the first quarter, with Ronan leading 11-10. After outscoring the Lions 36-12 in the second and third quarters, the Maidens were able to fend off a late fourth quarter run by the Lions to book their first win of the new season.

The boys team also notched their first win in a team effort that took nine Chiefs scoring to put away the feisty Lions, 52- 39. Ezekiel Misa lead the Chiefs with 15 points and Terry Panzetanga scored 11 in the winning effort.
