POLSON — The Polson Loaves and Fish food pantry received a donation of $10,000 from Providence St. Joseph Medical Center Friday morning.
“We are thrilled by the generosity of St. Joe’s administration and staff with this support,” said Bryan River, food bank manager. “I think of this gift as giving us the ability to offer more healthy fresh food to our clients in need.
The support will also help the pantry’s efforts to feed children through the School Backpack Program for elementary kids, and the School Pantry program for middle and high school kids, River explained.
“These two programs provide food for kids to take home on the weekends when they won’t have access to school meals,” he said.
Landon Godfrey, Providence St. Joseph Medical Center Director of Hospital Operations, said the purpose is to “reveal God’s love through service to our community with an emphasis on the poor and vulnerable. We see community members every day that struggle with food insecurity. We are blessed to contribute to the great work done every day at Loaves and Fish.”
