Devil is in details

Editor,
It gets so old but it works. The Valley Journal printed Rep. Hertz’s column berating Governor Bullock for … well, I guess announcing we had budget shortfalls.
In his article Mr. Hertz acknowledges we have a statewide budget crisis needing funds for highway and other infrastructure improvements. He also ignores his role in how we run the state or his own recent veto of an infrastructure bill, and using misdirection implies fault lies elsewhere.
He then touts his bill, HB203, as a solution. From my reading all his bill does is say we take a little over 14 million from other allotted places to his place. His is not the only option to receive access to larger amounts of federal funds; healthcare, for example.
As is most often true, the devil is in the details, and of course those he avoids.
When do we get representatives who will have character and skills enough to provide the steps necessary to achieve their goals? As it appears today, name calling trumps details.
I would suggest we move the money we now are obligated to spend on a statewide election to fill the representative position Zinke vacated. Let the Governor appoint a fill until the next election cycle and use that money to help fund our highway and infrastructure needs.
Bet it doesn’t happen.
