Editor,

Liars liars pants on fire. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

Welcome to politics. On March 3, at the legislative forum in Ronan, jointly sponsored by both parties and a Ronan High School government class, elected representatives Hertz and Noland proved the truth of these idioms.

Asked their positions on SB 305, a bill saving Montana counties thousands of dollars by allowing a mail in vote for the coming election, both men said they favored that bill. A few days ago both voted to effectively kill that bill.

They know our constitution, 13-19-104 (3) (b) allows such an election but used it to hide the blatant misrepresentation and real intent of their position. What a lesson in politics for the students.

Both serve because we allow this disregard of fiscal responsibility to be replaced by political egos and self-serving benefits. We have created and maintain a haven where incumbents can feel invincible. Unless we change, the shame of their behavior is ours.

On May 25, one running is not a millionaire and favors term limits. Rob Quist grew up in a Montana rural, farm/ ranch, outdoor environment. He lives dealing with the same things we do and is not, as the attack ads claim, one step away from the devil. He cares for and about our lifestyles. Not one style, the many styles that make us who we are.

Think of the avoidable cost you are paying when you vote.
