Editor,

I am writing this letter because as I read Gale Decker’s letter to the editor of the Valley Journal, I became very angry. I just need to tell you that I know my brother pretty well, and I know that he is a person of integrity and honesty. He would not bring any allegations against the school board if he couldn’t back them up with facts.  Gale taught in Ronan for many years and has always had the best interests of the kids and community in mind. Through the years, he has coached in different sports and I may not have ever told him before, but I was and am so proud of the way he conducts himself when coaching. Since his retirement from teaching, he has continued to serve the community as Lake County Superintendent of Schools. I would submit to the board members of District 30, that if you can honestly say that you are conducting your business in a manner worthy of the community, that you would put Gale on the agenda and let people have their say. If you have something to hide and are trying to dodge a bullet, then I’m thinking it’s time some of the board members stepped up and made things right or stepped down. I, for one, think that a daughter/father team coaching the cross-country team could only be a good thing for everyone concerned.
