Editor,

We received today in the mail a postcard asking us who will get our vote May 25 - Rob Quist or Greg Gianforte. It accuses Quist of being in support of “death panels.” Seriously? People who used that term did so to discredit the ACA. These people, along with the very idea of “death panels,” were thoroughly discredited years ago. There are no “death panels.” I was really disturbed then to see that the postcard was paid for in part by Lake County Republican Women. I know and have worked with several women who are members of this organization - women I have respected. I can only think that someone in that organization approved this message without the knowledge of many of the members. Sadly, they own it now. There is no reason for anyone to use the term “death panels” other than to frighten people, particularly seniors, to get them to vote for their candidate. What are we teaching our children - that it’s OK to mislead and actually lie to win? What is wrong with us? What are we doing here?
