Eckelman named High School Teacher of the Year

AUBURN, WASHINGTON – Patricia E. Eckelman of Auburn, Washington, daughter of Bill and Peggy Olson of Polson, has been honored by Auburn School District’s School Board, as High School Teacher of the Year. Patty was raised in Ronan where her mother Peggy taught Family and Consumer Science for 29 years. Patricia graduated from Ronan High School in 1987 and from the U of M in 1991 with a degree in business education. Patty has taught in Auburn for 25 years where she is a business education teacher at Mountain View High School. With three high schools and one alternative high school in the district, the high school student population is about 4,500 students. Patty is focused on her students obtaining real-world skills to prepare them for the future. Her Microsoft Office industry certification program is in the top 10 in Washington. Three years in a row her students won the Microsoft Office Specialist, State Championship and multiple students competed in national competition in Florida. “My kids make the program,” Eckelman said. “They are fabulous.”
