Editor,

Our chronic letter writer, Bob McClellan, (Letters, May 24) accused our President of, “…sixth-grade fascination with the power-style of leaders of nations like Russia, the Philippines, Turkey, and Egypt, non-partisan action is called for.” What do you mean by that, Bob? Your phrase is obscure.

On May 25 Trump said that NATO members must finally contribute their fair share and meet their financial treaty obligations. Of the 28 member nations, 23 are still not paying what they should. Trump said, “This is not fair to the people and taxpayers of the United States. And many of these nations owe massive amounts of money from past years and not paying in those past years. Over the last eight years, the United States spent more on defense than all other NATO countries combined.”

Does this sound like sixth-grade fascination? Maybe this is some of the non-partisan action Bob called for. If you signed for an obligation, you should pay it.

Maybe your sixth grader can get your new computer up and functioning, but he doesn’t have the skills and experience to negotiate trade treaties and real estate deals. Also, you don’t become a billionaire by being stupid. Trump negotiates to win. Maybe as President he can win for the USA, too.

Bob, you said, “Donald Trump’s character and mental make-up can relate to the four brutal dictatorships I listed…” Can you be more specific? Can you give some examples? You listed six forms of government. Which four of them are “brutal dictatorships?” You are being obscure again.

Your entire letter isn’t exactly crystal clear (“foggy” comes to mind.) You need to rewrite and resubmit. Some extra thinking and a proofreader may help, too.
