News from the Montana Department of Transportation

The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) would like to notify the public and seek comments on a proposal to install safety improvements on various roadways in Lake and Sanders counties, as described below:

– Site 1 - Montana Highway 200 east of Paradise: Install curve warning signs for curve at reference post (RP) 86, panel delineation from RP 89-90.5 and replace missing mile marker sign.

– Site 2 - Montana Highway 28 (MT-28) north of Lonepine: Install curve warning signs and chevrons for both curves from RP 26.0 to 27.5.

– Site 3 - MT-28 west of Elmo: Discourage parking on and near the curve by removing widened pavement area, extending delineation, and continuing No Parking signs through the curve at RP 44.

– Site 4 - Secondary Highway 211 (S-211) west of Ronan: Install advance intersection warning signing for eastbound and westbound lanes, larger stop signs, new Rocky Butte Road street name signs on S-211, new double arrow sign, and new stop ahead sign on Rocky Butte Road.

– Site 5 - Secondary Highway 354 southwest of Polson: Install new chevrons on curves at RP 1.9 and RP 2.2.

– Site 6 - Secondary Highway 212 north of Moiese: Install actuated northbound and southbound advance flashing beacons for the curve at RP 8.0.

The purpose of the project is to enhance roadway safety for the traveling public.

The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2018, depending on completion of all project development activities and availability of funding. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be needed.
