Obituary

John (Bob) Pust

WOODBURN, OREGON — John Robert (Bob) Pust died on July 6, 2017, in Woodburn, Oregon, at the age of 90. He was born on Feb. 1, 1927, in Glendive, Montana, the son of John E. and Margaret Pust.

John graduated from Dawson County High School in Glendive and then enlisted in the US Navy where he trained as a medic. He was commissioned to a Navy ship just as World War II ended. Bob also graduated from Montana State College (now MSU) in Bozeman with a degree in agriculture. On Dec. 28, 1950, he married Elaine (Kaul) Pust who passed away on July 29, 2016. Over the years they resided in Nashua and Charlo in Montana; Pullman, Washington; Dallas, Oregon; and Vancouver, Washington.

Bob taught vocational agriculture in Nashua and Charlo High Schools, owned and operated a 200-acre beef cattle ranch in Charlo for 12 years, and worked with soil testing, fertilizers and seed cleaning in the Ronan-Charlo area. He was also an active member of five Alliance Churches in the places where he lived.

Bob is survived by his four children, Doris (Bill) Murphy of Osceola Mills, Pennsylvania, Carol (Bill) Johnston of Yakima, Washington, Perry (LaNnae) Pust of Vancouver, Washington, and Dennis (Tracey) Pust of Woodburn, Oregon; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother.

There was a memorial service in Vancouver, Washington and interment took place at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
