Editor,
I know I'm just one person, but I have to comment on everyone's attitude towards Ronan District going to "Class B.” Why is it such a big deal to everyone? Does it make our district or our kids any less? Really, is it going to be the end of the world for Ronan? My son and some of his friends have made comments on this and they are only in sixth grade, but because they hear all the negativity from the older students, teachers, parents of our community they assume it's the worst thing that can happen.
I have been trying to encourage this move to "Class B" for the simple reason that it is a positive move. It's not permanent, and it may help with our teams having a more positive outlook towards playing. Just think of how our community will react when we have wins under our belt and positive teams that will actually want to play and succeed with positive attitudes.
Does it hurt us to play with other teams we've never played before? I think it's a great opportunity for change for our high school students and our youth who look up to them and want to play and be like them.
So please, adults of our community, stop with the negative remarks in the papers and on the streets because our youth are hearing it and they too are getting the negative attitudes. We will never succeed at playing any sports with attitudes like that no matter what "class" we are
