Soccer

FRENCHTOWN – The Polson Pirates and Lady Pirates both started the season with wins on the road at Frenchtown on Thursday. The Pirates won 4-2 and the Lady Pirates won 4-1.

On Saturday, the Pirates and Lady Pirates hosted Loyola. The Pirates handily defeated Loyola 11-0.

Alexis Guerrero, Robin Erickson and Michael Vergeront scored two goals apiece for Polson. The Lady Pirates battled back from a 3-0 half time deficit to tie the game 3-3. Ashlee Howell scored two goals and 

Lilly Armstrong scored the tying goal for the Lady Pirates.

 

Football

ALBERTON – Charlo football bested Alberton-Superior on the road last week 52-14. Landers Smith ran for 159 yards and three touchdowns to help the visiting Charlo Vikings beat Alberton-Superior 52-14 on Friday night. Vikings’ Toby Odom rushed for 95 yards and one touchdown while Tyson Petticrew rushed for two touchdowns and returned a punt 67 yards for a score.

RONAN – Butte Central came away with the win against Ronan in last week’s football game, 39-7. Brendon Blood completed 3 of 4 passes for 32 yards and a touchdown in a 39-7 loss to visiting Butte Central on Friday night. Happy Cheff ran for 25 yards on three carries and had two catches for 24 yards.

VICTOR – The St. Ignatius football team won Saturday’s away non-conference game against Victor, 26-24. Further information was not available.

 

TWIN BRIDGES – Arlee topped Twin Bridges 50-8 on the road last week. Arlee Warriors’ running back Darshan Bolen scored two rushing and two receiving touchdowns to lead the Warriors to a 50-8 win over hosting Twin Bridges on Friday night. Warriors quarter back Lane Schall passed for four touch downs to three different receivers.

Volleyball

CHARLO – Sakoya Gaustad booked two blocks and four aces to lead the Charlo Lady Vikings to a 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-18) win over visiting St. Regis on Thursday. In their first home game of the season the Lady Vikings were able to shut out the Tigers in a strong showing.

Charlo: Kills 13 (Kaitlin Cox 9). Blocks 3 (Sakoya Gaustad 2). Digs 42 (Cox 14). Assists 16 (Brooklyn Faust 11). Aces 10 (Gaustad 4, Bella Hawk 3).

 

RONAN – On Thursday, the Ronan Maidens fell to hosting Stevensville 25-13, 25-10, 25-11.

Ronan: Kills 7 (Madison Clairmont 4). Blocks 3 (Madeline McCrea 2). Digs 32 (three with six). Assists 6 (Tiana Ulutoa 6). Aces 4 (Louetta Conko-Camel 2).

 

MISSION – Afton Brander logged two blocks and three aces, while River Gonzalez had 20 digs for the Mission Lady Bulldogs in a 25-12, 17-25, 25-21, 25-27, 7-15 loss to visiting Stillwater Christian on Thursday.

St. Ignatius: Kills 21 (Karolyna Buck 5). Blocks 5 (Afton Brander 2, Hunter Eichert 2). Digs 44 (River Gonzalez 20). Assists 21 (Sophia Tolbert 12). Aces 13 (Tolbert 3, Adams 3, Brander 3).

 

POLSON – Kaelyn Smith scored five kills and Kyla Blixt had four aces as the Polson Lady Pirates fell to visiting Frenchtown Broncs 0-3 (25-9, 25-21, 25-19) on Thursday night.

Polson: Kills 14 (Kaelyn Smith 5). Blocks 1. Digs 20 (Kyler Lundeen 8). Assists 11 (Jaycee Frydenlund 6). Aces 8 (Kyla Blixt 4).

LINCOLN – Ashley Revis tallied nine kills and eight blocks to lead the Arlee Scarlets to a 3-1 (25-20, 25-17, 21-25, 25-18) over the hosting Lincoln Lynx on Friday night.

Arlee: Kills 27 (Ashley Revis 9). Blocks 12 (Revis 8). Digs 46 (Mikayla Ricken 15). Assists 20 (Ashley Tanner 13). Aces 0.

 

Golf

RONAN – At the Mission Mountain Golf course in Ronan, the Polson boys took home the team title with an overall score of 325 during the Ronan Invitational on Thursday. However, Libby Logger Ryggs Johnston claimed the individual victory after he shot a 66, nine strokes ahead of Polson Pirate Carson McDaniel.

Matt Hobbs carded a 77 third place and Trey Kelley placed eighth with an 82 for the Pirates, while both Anthony Camel and C. Cornwell scored a 96 to led the hosting Ronan Chiefs. 

For the girls, it was Ronan’s Brooklyn Olson who placed third with a score of 92 followed by Polson’s C. Cannon sixth place 103 and E. Yarbough ninth place 105.

 

Cross-Country

RONAN – The Polson Pirates girls’ cross-country team took first at the Canal Bank Run in Ronan on Friday.

Bea Frissell led the Lady Pirates, finishing in first place with a time of 19:29. The Lady Pirates placed five runners in the top 10.

On the boys’ side, the Polson Pirates narrowly edged out the Ronan Chiefs for second place, while Frenchtown took home first.
