Editor,

I would just like to respond to the article about Ricciardi’s restaurant on Highway 35 that the “very young” high school student wrote about his dining experience in the high school paper The Salishian.

First of all, what a way to ruin a small business that has worked for years trying to keep one of the very few places that we have left to eat in this area up and going.

Secondly, please tell me how much dining experience this young student has, as I’m quite sure he is not too worldly, or maybe he is a food critic but forgot to mention that in his article. My husband and I go out to eat very often in this area, and even if we had an off experience at any of the places we frequent, we would never write such a horrible article about any of them.

I am a small business owner, and I know how hard it is to keep the doors open and offer a service to our community. Things like this are very hurtful, and sometimes people don’t realize that their actions or comments, like this student has made, can shut someone down. What I have come to realize is that this is a “word-of-mouth” town, and maybe it is best just to not say anything at all.
