Editor,
Last week I visited a friend in Coeur d’Alene and we played golf at his municipal course and at Circling Raven. It made me appreciate even more the effort to make Polson Bay Golf Course such a stand out golf venue.
Roger, Natalie, Pat, Cameron, Todd and their crews all work together to make such a fine course enjoyable from the clubhouse entry to the last bite at the 19th hole. No doubt the Idaho courses have some fine scenery as well, but the conditions of play, especially on the greens, does not match Polson’s.
Living here as long as I have I am not convinced the city council sees the real value our golf course and its reputation brings in income to the city. It is acknowledged and sees some funds now and then, but I don’t think it is given the value it has to all of us, not just golfers.
Many items at our course could stand improvements but if the funding for these must come primarily from what the course can provide, the city itself will be the loser. The money our course generates to our economy should not just be measured by golf fees.
The new irrigation on the old nine is a great step, thank you for that.
