Original Oratory, fifth place: Sher Afgan Tehmasap
Results in drama events were:
Classical Duo, second place: Rosie Stanfield and Michael Venters
Serious Duo, third place: Krysta Seville and Sydney Gambrel
Head coach Jon Petersen had high hopes for all the PHS competitors at the Flathead Speech, Debate and Drama meet on Nov. 18 and 19 in Kalispell.
Rosie Stanfield and Michael Venters were first in Classical Duo Acting at the Hamilton meet until the final round, Petersen said, so he thought their piece, the tea party portion of “Alice in Wonderful, ” will take them into the final round.
Entered in two events, Original Oratory and Expository Speaking, exchange student Sher Afgan Tehmasap has been working hard and doing well, Petersen added. Tehmasap was putting the finishing touches on a visual aid for Expository Speaking.
PHS has three brand-new Lincoln-Douglas debaters, all sophomores, and the Flathead meet will season them, since Flathead High School traditionally brings huge teams.
Also new is Annie Venters, whose piece is from “Hansel and Gretel.” Venters used different voices, one the witch from the story. She told her coach her witch voice was much more convincing at the Hamilton meet.
Classical Duo actors Riley Berlin and Erika Siegelin, performing the scarecrow scene from “The Wizard of Oz” are also new to drama competition.
Assistant coaches Bonnie Petersen and Michael Schwabenbauer join Petersen in coaching the team.
