Worth Nelson
CHARLO — Worth Antone Nelson completed his earthly journey to return to his Heavenly Father on Sept. 19, 2017. In 1931, he was born in Ririe, Idaho, to Frank and Zella Nelson. Growing up on ranches in Idaho and Montana along with his brother Gene, and sisters Jill and Glee, he attended schools in Idaho and Montana. After his graduation from St. Ignatius High School in 1950, he enlisted in the Air Force where he served for 21 years. During his time in the Air Force he served in Vietnam, Japan, North Korea, Taiwan, Hawaii, and stateside.
Worth was a member of the American Legion Post No. 0138 in Ronan. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States.
Worth married Jennifer Coleman in England and they had a daughter named Lynne Jeniel who was born in 1957. Worth and Jenny divorced in 1960 when Lynne was three years old.
Worth worked in Alaska and Wyoming until he retired to the home place in Post Creek area and later to Charlo.
Worth loved to be a mechanic – cars, trucks, tractors, and airplanes. He learned to be a mechanic from his father and the Air Force. He loved horses and dogs too. He was a soft hearted, tough talking man with a generous nature who was fiercely patriotic.
He is survived by his sister, Jeniel N. Parker of Lehi, Utah, and many nieces and nephews.
