POLSON — A 28-year-old man initially held on a deliberate homicide charge has been released from jail, County Attorney Steve Eschenbacher said.
Ryan Jerry Black was released Monday, Sept. 18, with a requirement that he wear a GPS monitoring device and not return to Lake County except to meet with his attorney or to attend court hearings, Eschenbacher said.
The Browning/Cut Bank-area resident is a student at Salish Kootenai College, Eschenbacher said, adding that there is a “very credible self defense aspect to this case.”
Black was arrested after shooting and killing 34-year-old Johnny McKeever in the early morning hours of Sept. 16, according to an LCSO press release.
The county attorney’s office is still investigating the case.
