Judge James A. Manley sentenced the following people on Sept. 27:

Derrick Lee Martell, 43, of Great Falls, was given six months in jail for misdemeanor assault and three violations of a protective order. The former was amended from a felony partner family member assault charge. Martell was given credit for 58 days in jail. The sentences will run concurrently.

According to a court document, on July 25 he slapped his 16-yearold female partner in the face and bruised her face and shoulders during an argument about her status on Facebook. The victim said Martell had been drinking. He was ordered to have no contact with the victim, complete a 40-hour anger management course, pay a $580 fine for each conviction and get a chemical dependency evaluation. Martell is a registered violent offender who was sentenced for partner family member assault in December 2014.

Deva Hartsoe, 37, of St. Ignatius, was given a deferred two-year sentence for possession of dangerous drugs.

According to a court document, Hartsoe was charged after she attempted to break into an apartment at Cherry Hill Apartments and stabbed a door multiple times. Police found several baggies with methamphetamine residue in her backpack along with drug paraphernalia and a Gerber knife.

Damian Armando Talamantes, 40, of Ronan, was given a deferred threeyear sentence for making threats. Talamantes was convicted at an Aug. 14 trial.

According to a court document, he said there would be “fireworks” after law enforcement served him with a protective order on Nov. 3, 2016. On April 26, he was sentenced to six months in jail with all time suspended except for 42 days served for violating a protective order following an April 3 conviction at trial. A possession of dangerous drugs charge was dismissed with prejudice. All of the charges were related to the Nov. 3, 2016 incident.

Brittani Dawn Charlo, 31, of Arlee, was given five years and one month in DOC with four years suspended for operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 percent, fourth offense. The conviction was for a Feb. 15 incident in which Charlo had a blood alcohol content of .122 following a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 93 in Ronan. She was ordered to pay $6,460 in fines and fees. Another identical charge stemming from a May 7 incident was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.

Judge Kim Christopher sentenced the following person on Sept. 28:

Patrick Hadley, 33, of Ronan, was given a three year deferred sentence for criminal possession of dangerous drugs. He was given credit for 103 days in jail. Another count was dismissed and another charge was not filed as part of a plea agreement.
