ARLEE — After the holiday break, the Scarlets’ basketball team faced their first test of the New Year against the Lady Red Devils and improved their record 2-5 with a 38-33 win over Noxon.
The Scarlets also move to 2-1 in District 14-C play with the win.
Mahalia Hendren and Whitney Malatare piloted the Scarlets to the win.
Hendren tallied 15 points and Malatare added 13.
The Lady Devils’ Kim Marich scored 16 points, and Cara Stettler 11 for the Red Devils.
On the boys’ side, three Noxon players were in double figures in Arlee’s loss 52-44 against the Red Devils. Arlee’s Junior Sansavere topped the Warriors with 13 points.
On Dec. 5, the Warriors were on the winning end when they upset the Bulldogs 46-42 in St. Ignatius. Sansavere proved to be an offensive force, totaling 11 points to lift the Warriors. Austin Durglo scored 12, and Stuart Grant had 10 to lead the Bulldogs.
The Warriors are now 1-2 for conference play and 3-4 for the regular season.
