Judge James A. Manley sentenced the following people on Oct. 18:

Isadore Sorrell, 32, of Ronan, was given a three-year deferred sentence for criminal possession of dangerous drugs after police found a used syringe with Fentanyl residue on Oct. 25, 2015 after Sorrell was stopped while riding a bicycle. He was given credit for 46 days in jail. Manley said Sorrell was getting a “second chance” because this is his first felony.

Tina Kaye Burtch, 45, of Dixon, was given a one-year suspended sentence to DOC after an earlier sentence was revoked. Burtch admitted that she failed to report to her probation officer since June 2016 and failed to report two times when she was pulled over by police. Defense attorney Eldena Bear Don’t Walk asked for a ruling that Burtch had fulfilled her debt to society because the underlying offense for criminal possession of dangerous drugs was from 2007. County Attorney Steve Eschenbacher said a suspended sentence would help ensure that Burtch stays clean because children are involved.

Judge Kim Christopher sentenced the following people on Oct. 19:

Angelina Dempsey, 42, of Polson, was given a three-year deferred sentence when her probation was revoked on an April 11, 2016 sentence for criminal possession of dangerous drugs (two Clonazepam pills). Dempsey said she had possessed alcohol in violation of her probation. Christopher said she accepted the plea agreement with reservations because Dempsey faces charges of robbery, assault with a weapon and criminal endangerment following an Aug. 27 incident in Pablo in which bullets allegedly whizzed by two children.
