Editor,
Mission Mountain Enterprises, Inc. would like to thank Kicking Horse Job Corps for all of the help they have provided us over the years.
Our thrift stores, Nifty Thrifty in Polson and Twice But Nice in Ronan, receive donations of clothing that is often times not saleable. We bag this clothing and store it in a warehouse until we have enough to fill a semi-truck. When it is full, we contract with a recycling company that turns it into rags. We receive a per/pound price and after covering expenses we make enough to help provide some community outings and other activities for our individuals.
Kicking Horse Job Corps works with us to provide volunteers to help load the 30,000 plus pounds of black garbage bags of clothing and shoes. This takes anywhere from two to three hours and is hard physical work. They are always enthusiastic and fun to be around. Without their help, it would be difficult for our staff and individuals to get this job done.
Kicking Horse Job Corps volunteers also come every year before Halloween and help our individuals carve pumpkins for the holiday. They carve about 20 pumpkins. Our individuals love this activity and always look forward to it.
Again, we so appreciate Kicking Horse Job Corps and want our community to know what a wonderful asset they are. Please support these young adults in any way you can as they receive their training and become a part of our work force.
