Editor,

Every year, the Town Pump locally teams with its Corporate Office in Butte to conduct their “be a friend indeed to a friend in need” campaign to benefit the states’ food pantries.

Each year the Ronan Bread Basket officers and volunteers participate by encouraging our neighbors in the Ronan, Pablo, Charlo, and Dixon area to make a monetary donation to the Bread Basket. The Corporate Town Pump will match the local monetary donations that we receive. Town Pump will match our combined donations given between September to the end of November up to $5000 to help fund our activities.

Our local Town Pump also takes donations from patrons of the store in Ronan and those are forwarded to the Bread Basket, but are not counted in the Corporate donation. Each year the generous patrons have donated more than $1000.

The Ronan Bread Basket is blessed to have wonderful community support from bringing in food, to volunteering to work at the facility, to giving money to keep us open.

At this time of year, we are asking that if you would be making a donation to the Bread Basket that you would consider donating now so that we can meet our $5000 challenge. You can mail a donation to The Bread Basket at P.O. Box 346, Ronan, or drop off your donation when the Bread Basket is open on Tuesday or Friday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thank you in advance for your timely and welcome donation.

The Ronan Bread Basket currently serves over 180 families per month. Thanks to The Polson Loaves and Fish and the West Shore Food Bank, the Seventh Day Adventist “Souper Bowl,” and generous gardeners and shoppers in our community, we are often able to give our families a little extra each month.

Further, through the generosity of our Landlord, our Bread Basket is working on a facility expansion to make our food distribution more organized and far less crowded.

Thank you, our faithful contributors and friends for helping us keep our doors open since 1987.

Marilynn Tanner
Bread Basket Secretary
