We have more changes coming to the library in the coming weeks. After a remarkable 30-year career, library director Marilyn Trosper will retire on Friday, Jan. 5. Marilyn has accomplished many amazing things during her 30 years including moving Polson to a cooperative electronic “card” catalog that allows our patrons access to materials from over 30 libraries in the state, and the incredible task of creating a library district for Polson. During her career, Marilyn has earned the prestigious honor of the Sheila Cates Librarian of the Year award and the Montana Library Association Honorary Lifetime Membership. She will leave an amazing legacy for many years to come. Please join us on Jan. 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a reception to wish Marilyn well in her retirement.

Would you like to be a Friend of the Library? We are looking for new leadership and membership for our Friends of the Library group. This is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that assists the library with projects and programs. Historically, the Friends have also had a book club. If we are unable to find new leadership to sit on the organization’s board by Christmas the Friends of the Library will be disbanded. We don’t want to see the 501(c)3 status lapse and would love to have an active Friends group again at the Library. If you have any interest, please contact Abbi at 883-8225.

Starting Jan. 2 we will have new hours at the library. We will now open at 10 a.m. each morning Monday through Saturday. We will close at 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and will keep our 6 p.m. closing on Friday and 4 p.m. closing on Saturday.

Watch for our 2nd Annual Winter Reading Program for teens and adults starting Dec. 21.
