POLSON — A former employee of Ronan’s Ace Hardware store has been charged with theft.

Benjamin M. Meafua was charged with theft of $5,323 after police received a report of embezzlement on June 2, a court document states.

Meafua allegedly used a manager’s pass codes to a computer and returned sold merchandise to his credit card.

A store video showed Meafua at the register when the returns were happening, the document states, but there were no legitimate returns.

In District Court on Dec. 7, County Attorney Steve Eschenbacher said law enforcement was unable to serve Meafua and that he had moved to Utah. Eschenbacher said he would be requesting an arrest warrant.
