Dale Thorp
POLSON — Dale Donald Thorp passed away peacefully and went home to the Lord on Friday, Dec. 29, at Evergreen Nursing Home and Rehabilitation.
Dale was born April 12, 1970, in Ronan to Donald and Maxine Thorp. Dale was diagnosed as a young child with muscular dystrophy while the family lived on a farm in Moiese.
He attended school in Charlo. His family moved in 1979 to Ronan where he attended school until he graduated from high school in 1987. During the summer Dale went to summer camp every year for muscular dystrophy at Arrow Ranch at Seeley Swan Lake. He was always named “well-liked, most memorable and best buddy.” He always liked watching the Jerry Lewis Telethon for Muscular Dystrophy.
Dale was active with Special Olympics and competed in swimming and bowling along with track and field events. He never let anything stop him.
After graduation Dale went to work for Mission Mountain Enterprises in 1990 and later retired in 2012.
Dale loved to attend sports events in Ronan and Polson. He especially loved going to Griz football and Lady Griz basketball games, as well as Seattle Mariners and Seahawks games.
Dale loved spending time with his sister Catherine and went with her to Disneyland. He also loved to watch the TV show “The Price is Right” every morning.
Dale was preceded in death by his grandparents, Warren and Roberta Thorp and Carl and Lydia Granger; his mother, Maxine; and his brother, David.
Dale is survived by his father, Donald of Ronan; his brother, Tim and Kay of Arlee; his sister, Catherine (Eugene) Duffy of Klamath Falls, Oregon; and his niece, Topanga Thorp.
Lake Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Services will be at a later date.
