Paul Alfred Doolittle
POLSON — Paul Alfred Doolittle, 85, passed away Dec. 18, 2017, at his home in Polson. He was born in Lolo, on March 18, 1932, to Gordon and Josephine (Zabilski) Doolittle.
Paul was proceeded in death by his parents and his sister, Margaret Vernon.
Paul is survived by his wife, Anita of Osburn, Idaho; his brothers, John (Robbie) Doolittle of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and Frank (Christie) Doolittle of Bellevue, Washington; his children, Joan (Dave) Young of Kapaau, Hawaii, and Mike (Andrea) Doolittle of Missoula; his four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Paul attended Lolo Elementary School, Florence High school and graduated from Missoula County High School. He then attended Olympia Junior College in Bremerton, Washington and the University of Montana in Missoula.
Paul was employed at Bremerton Naval Shipyard, in Bremerton, Washington, as an electrician helper. He worked on the Essex Class aircraft carrier “Kearsarge” and at the Naval Base Kitsap in, Bangor, Washington. In Missoula, Paul was in the television industry. He owned (Warranty TV) shops conducting sales, rentals, and repair work throughout Western Montana. He also provided technical support to local radio and TV stations, some weather reporting, and selling air time ads. He continued these businesses after moving to Polson in 1971, but eventually entered into housing/apartment ownership and rental
In retirement, Paul continued housing rentals in Polson, as well as in Arizona, where he enjoyed spending the winters.
Paul was a member of the pistol target club in high school (he was an excellent shot). He was an avid and successful stock car racer and the Montana State champ in the mid-'60s.
Paul liked to ski, play bridge and other card games. He had been a member of Kiwanis International and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
