Edward Unger
POLSON — Edward Roland “Eddy” Unger passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018, at age 86. He was born Nov. 19, 1931, in Poplar, Montana, to John and Minnie Unger, the fifth of six children.
He moved with his folks to Polson in 1948. He graduated from Polson High School in 1949. He served in the Army Reserves.
He married JoMay Mellinger from Thompson Falls on Nov. 13, 1960. They had five children. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. He owned and operated a ranch west of Pablo for over 55 years. He also worked at Plum Creek Mill and Jore Corp.
Anyone who knew him knew that he was a man of faith, love, integrity, honesty and hard work. He will be greatly missed but we know he is at peace now and in his heavenly home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Minnie Unger; his brothers, Lawrence Unger and Reynold Unger; his sister, Martha Kroemer and his infant son, Leonard Unger.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, JoMay Unger; four children, Kathryn Cutting, Janet (Gary) Reynolds, Vern Unger and David Unger; two sisters, Marie Leivestad and Rosalia Skaar; seven grandchildren, Bethany, Kimberly, Christopher, Rachel, Zachary, Hope and Kaleb; five great-grandchildren, Thomas, Ryland, Kyler, Robert and Kennedy, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at 1 p.m., at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, with Rev. Kyle Whaley officiating. Interment will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Polson. Viewing will be at Lake Funeral Home on March 14 from 5 to 7 p.m.
