ST. IGNATIUS – Colorful eggs rested on a blanket of snow in fields around the St. Ignatius school for the annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday hosted by the Chamber of Commerce.
The 27-degree temperature and a slight wind made for a chilly morning as children ages 0 to 12 scurried across the field designated for their age group with baskets and bags in hand. Parents could be heard saying, “Wow, it’s cold out here.”
The kids cleared the field of 1,400 eggs in just less than five minutes. The parents of these children might also be wishing this amazing egg collecting skill transferred to room cleaning or other chores. The Easter bunny watched from the sidelines.
Randi Gariepy provided 1,000 plastic eggs and 14 baskets. The baskets were given away to children who found a winning ticket in their eggs. Rod’s Harvest Foods donated the hard boiled eggs. The local Boy Scout troop colored two cases of eggs. Heidi Riddle colored another two cases, and Gariepy provided a case of colored eggs.
