Edward Ertle

STERLING, COLORADO — Edward “Fast Eddie” Ertle, 76, of Sterling passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018, in Sterling. Memorial services will be on May 18 at 11 a.m. at Tennant Funeral Home. A private family inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Eddie was born on May 27, 1941, in Sterling to John and Susie (Beren) Ertle. He was a maintenance man working for many businesses, including Tri-State, Great Western Sugar and Nelco Manufacturing. He loved playing pool (that’s where he received his nickname Fast Eddie), cards and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Eddie is survived by his children, Francis Ertle, Debbie and Steve Unrein, Roxanne and David Hutt, all of Sterling, Colorado, Laura (Shawn) Burland of Polson, Melissa (Donald) Slighter of Holland, Michigan, Jodi (Brian) Knight of Pueblo, Colorado; and his adopted children, Chris Ertle-Burkhart, Nathan Ertle and Kimberly Ertle, all of Polson; his sisters, Clara Headley, Lori Frick, Barb Mari, all of Sterling, Colorado, Pauline Gates of Denver, Colorado, Helen (Jim) Philbert of Wisconsin, Betty Gagliardi of Washington, Dorothy Russell of Washington; his brothers, John (Karen) Ertle, Bill (Kathy) Ertle, both of Sterling, Colorado, and George Ertle of Denver, Colorado; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his first wife, Ellamae Nation and his second wife Sandy Ertle Raymond.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Susie Ertle, his sister, Marie Brady, and his infant, brother Lil Eddie.
