Editor,

Polson’s Food Pantry was founded in the early 1980s by a group of local churches. Gerrie Boyle was the first manager and retained that title before handing over that responsibility to Bryan River in 2009. Both managers have been exceptionally dedicated to the day to day operations of this organization, but now we are faced with a new challenge as Bryan is moving to Missoula in June.

The Pantry is hoping that someone from the community will step forward and fill the void left by Bryan. He has been an inspiring and dedicated volunteer, but upon his departure, the needs of the Pantry’s clients will continue.

In addition to Bryan leaving, Garth Cox is moving to Missoula next month. Garth has dedicated several days a week to meet the needs of this organization. He also has picked up the Walmart donations of food on Monday afternoons for several years. His commitment will be missed.

In short, the Pantry, although always in need of committed and dedicated volunteers, now is asking the community for someone to consider working to help manage the pantry and also to volunteer to use our truck to pick up the Walmart donations at 2 p.m. on Monday afternoon.

Anyone interested in helping, by volunteering, is encouraged to stop by the pantry across from Western Building Center on 1st Street East on Monday or Thursday morning from 8 a.m.to 10 a.m. or Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. or on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Pantry can be reached at 406-883-6864.
