Editor,
Why doesn’t the MEIC — that’s the Montana Environmental Information Center — care about keeping our lake and rivers pristine? I asked two of my friends that work for environmental charities. The MEIC gives almost all the legislators around our lake very low scores or zeros. One year, I carried a bill to help the Clark Fork River Task Force (it was just put into HB2), funding for lake monitoring and carried the aquatic invasive species prevention bill in the House. These were not included in the list of important bills by the MEIC. What was I told? The MEIC does not want to rate bills carried by or supported by Republicans. I will still continue to work for lake monitoring to be done by the biological station and for keeping our waters and environment clean, because it is the right thing to do. I work for the people of our area, not the MEIC.
