NOXON —Sometimes in volleyball, what goes around comes around again.

On Friday, after defeating St. Regis 3-0, the Arlee Scarlets faced the Charlo Lady Vikings in their second game in the District 10-C tournament. The Lady Vikings took the first meeting 3-1. But shortly after the game, head coach Brian Big Sam predicted it wouldn’t be the last time the two teams would play.

“We’re going to meet again,” Big Sam said.

Charlo head coach Sheryl Kain was pleased with the win over Arlee. But she noted the Lady Vikings had some off moments in addition to the fact they just lost to the Scarlets days prior.

“The (Scarlets) are really good hitters,” Kain said. “We need to return the favor.”

And the Lady Vikings had the chance, playing Arlee for a spot in the championship game at the tournament.

Before the repeat matchup, Superior defeated Charlo 3-0. Nicole Stroot had 11 kills, 10 digs and three aces to lead the Bobcats.

Arlee downed Hot Springs, 3-1, to meet up with the Lady Vikings again, but this time the Scarlets prevailed 3-1.

Mahalia Hendren had a stellar game against Charlo with 26 kills and four blocks. Becca Nelson also added seven aces, and Cortney Dix contributed 30 assists in the win. Deondra Brown paced Charlo with 15 kills and four blocks by Dawn Blevins.

In the championship game against Superior, Becca Nelson led the Scarlets with 12 kills. The Scarlets came out strong and took the first set 12-25, but the Superior Bobcats proved to be too much and took the last three games, 25-16, 25-20, 25-21.

Arlee advances to the Western C Divisional Tournament in Butte, which begins Thursday.
