Boys Basketball

Polson Pirates

During the Western A Boys Divisional Basketball Tournament in Hamilton, the Polson Pirate 2018-2019 basketball season came to an end during this past weekend. The Pirates fell 81-34 to the Dillon Beavers on Thursday evening and dropped a close 67-63 overtime battle to the Whitefish Bulldogs on Friday afternoon. Pirate Ryker Wenderoth scored a team-high 12 points against the Beavers. Micah Askan led Polson with 16 points followed by Trey Kelley and Colton Graham who both scored 10 points against the Bulldogs.

Charlo Vikings

Landers Smith shot a game-high 18 points in a 62-43 loss in the first round of the Western C Boys Divisional Basketball Tournament in Butte against Twin Bridges on Thursday. On Friday, Viking Nate Delaney led all scorers with 19 points as Charlo ran past Alberton/Superior in a 48-35 game. The win advanced the Vikings to a loser-out consolation game on Saturday against Gardiner. In Saturday’s matchup, the Vikings' season came to an end with a 60-45 loss to Gardiner.

 

Girls Basketball

Mission Lady Bulldogs

The Mission Lady Bulldogs girls’ basketball season ended over the weekend during the three-day Western B Girls Divisional Basketball Tournament hosted at the Ronan Events Center. On Thursday, the Lady Bulldog fell 65-37 in the opening round to the Florence Lady Falcons. Addison Arlint led the Lady Bulldogs with 10 points.

In Friday morning’s loser-out matchup, the Deer Lodge Lady Wardens defeated the Lady Bulldogs in a consolation round 49-44. For the Lady Bulldogs, Afton Brander scored a team-high 13 points closely followed by Madyson Currie with 12 points. Arlint scored 11 points.

Ronan Maidens

On Saturday morning, the Ronan Maidens were toppled 49-37 by the Libby Lady Loggers in a loser-out game during the Western A Girls Divisional Basketball Tournament in Hamilton. In the Libby game, Jaylea Lunceford paced the Maidens with 12 points followed by Tiana Ulutoa who scored 10 points. Lunceford scored a Maiden team-high 15 points in the 57-54 first round loss on Thursday to Butte Central. Ulutoa scored 12 points while Regan Clairmont scored 11 points. Ronan rebounded on Friday with a 47-44 win over Frenchtown. Ulutoa bucketed a game-high 21 points followed by Lunceford with 10 points.
