PABLO - Mission Valley basketball fans got one last look at their favorite players from this season Tuesday as SKC hosted the 17th annual Mission Valley All-Star Games.

The gym was packed for the boys game Tuesday evening as players from eight local schools took to the court one last time this winter.

The players didn’t disappoint as the teams combined to score 217 points as the "home" All-Stars came away with a 117-100 victory.

"It's not really about who wins and loses in these games," event organizer Steve Woll said. "The Mission Valley All-Star Game is all about having fun. We want to give these kids one last chance to play together this season and let the fans have one last night of fun."

Fun is exactly what everyone seemed to be having, especially in the final two minutes of the contest as an impromptu slam-dunk competition broke out between Polson's Louis Mohr and Bigfork's Christian Ker.

In actual competitive action, the home all-stars jumped out to a quick lead in the game's opening minutes on the strength of a scoring barrage from Ronan's Justin Dustybull. The home squad continued to lead for most of the first half before the away team used a quick three-point attack from Mohr and Arlee's Kasey Bridgewater to tie the game at 41 late in the half. The home squad finished the half on a roll to take a 50-43 lead into the break.

The teams continued to pour on the points in the second half but the home squad was able to pull away in the end.

Mohr scored a game-high 29 points to led the away team in the loss while Dustybull led the victorious home squad with 28.

The home team had six players score in double figures as Dustybull led the way with his 28, Ker had 15, Kyle Bagnell and J.J. Tanner both added 14, Jesse Pfau had 13 and T.J. Cutfinger added 11.

Mohr’s 29 led the away squad while Zack Malinak added 15, Travis Knoll scored 13, Bridgewater added 12 and Chance Rosenbaum finished with 10 points.

Earlier in the evening, the home team came away with a 76-63 win in a girls all-star game that became a lopsided contest midway through the opening half.

Led by Bigfork’s Mallory Knoll and Mission’s Kyla Mitchell and Stephanie Lewandowski, the home team jumped out to a 43-29 halftime lead and never looked back in the second half.

The away squad scored the majority of its points at the foul line in the opening half, knocking down 19 of 22 free throws in the opening 20 minutes of play. The away squad finished 24-30 from the stripe in the contest for a blistering 80 percent.

Bigfork’s Caitlin Charlebois hit all nine of her free throws in the contest and led the away team with 17 points in the loss. Charlo’s Kinley Pope added nine in the loss while teammate Dawn Blevins and Ronan’s Tailyr Irvine both added eight.

The home team had four players score in double figures, led by Mitchell with 12. Knoll and Charlo’s Deondra Brown both scored 11 and Polson’s Breanne Kelley added 10.
