Softball

Polson Lady Pirates

On the road, the Polson Lady Pirates blasted the Frenchtown Lady Broncs for 16 hits in an 11-8 victory on Tuesday evening, April 23. Lady Pirate pitchers Lauren Vergeront and Katelyne Druyvestein combined for eight strikeouts, seven walks and five hits. Josie Caye and Kobbey Smith led the Lady Pirates at the plate going three-for-four, while Savanna Carpentier had a grand slam home run.

 

Track and Field

Mission Bulldogs

Mission Lady Bulldog Karolyna Buck picked up a first-place finish in the 3200 meters with a time of 13:30.28 and second place in the 800 meters during competition at the Eureka top eight meet on Tuesday, April 23. Sydney and Afton Brander finished 1-2 in the long and triple jump. Sydney captured the 100 meters with a time of 13.53, while Afton nabbed a first in the high jump.

Addison Arlint threw with second place finishes for the Lady Bulldogs in both the shot put and discus.

On the boy’s side of the track, Charlie Adams picked up third place in the triple jump, and Matt Anderson threw for fourth place in the discus.

Charlo Vikings

During track competition at the Russ Pilcher top 10 in Missoula on Tuesday, April 23, Charlo Lady Viking Carlee Fryberger raced to a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles. On Friday, Landers Smith picked up two wins during the Big Sky hosted seven-team competition in Missoula. Smith won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.32 and scored a time of 42.43 in the 300-meter hurdles. 

Other Viking top-five finishers were Nick Daugherty with second place in the 800 meters, Wills DeGrandpre finished second in the 3200 and fourth in the 400 meters, Brayden Zemple took second in the triple jump, and in the pole vault, Ethan Diaz claimed second. Garett Vaughan rounded out the top- five finishers for the Vikings with a fourth-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles and fifth in both the 300-meter hurdles and pole vault.

For the Lady Vikings, Kyla Tomlin and Katelyn Young finished 1-2 in the javelin, while Aryal Love finished first in the 3200 with a time of 15:27.65. Kassidi Cox posted a fourth-place finish in the 100-meters, Allie Delaney placed fifth in both the 100-meter and 300-meter hurdles, Carlee Fryberger took fourth in the triple jump and Destiny Manuel was fifth in the pole vault. 

Kaitlin Cox placed fourth in the 100 meters, second in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump.

Arlee Warriors and Scarlets

Arlee’s Peyton Lammerding continued her dominance in the discus and shot put on Friday during the Big Sky hosted seven-team competition in Missoula. Lammerding scored a first-place 102.07 throw in the discus and a 33-09 second place in the shot put followed by teammate Halle Adams with a fourth.  

On the boy’s side of the track, Warrior Jason Miller took first in the triple jump posting a 37-foot three-inch jump. Also claiming top-five finishes were Garrett Stringer with third place in the long jump and Sage Nicolai who finished fourth in the 3200.

Polson Pirates

Lady Pirate Bea Frissell placed second with a time of 5:08.99 in the 1600 meters during competition at the Russ Pilcher Top 10 held at the Missoula County Stadium on Tuesday, April 23.

For the Pirates, claiming fifth place finishes were Boston Goode in the 400, Quin Stewart in the 800 and Colby Soderquist in the pole Vault.

On Saturday, during the ARM Invitational track and field meet in Whitefish, Goode and Frissell paced the Polson track team with first place finishes. Goode finished first with a time of 52.51 in the boys 400 meters, while Lady Pirate Frissell won the 3200 with a mark of 10:53.14.

For Polson, Quin Stewart finished third in the 400 meters. Shayla Olson placed third in the 300-meter hurdles. A third-place finish went to Mikaela Ducharme in the triple jump, and Jonathan Perez with a fourth-place finish in the javelin.

Ronan Chiefs

In track action at the Missoula County Stadium during the Russ Pilcher top 10 on Tuesday, April 23, James Normandeau placed second with a time of 4:40.73 in the 1600 meters for the Ronan Chiefs.

During the ARM Invitational track and field meet in Whitefish on Saturday, Kinsley Barney posted second-place finishes in both the 100-meter and 200-meter races. Also recording two top-five finishes for Ronan were Normandeau with fourth in the 800 meters and a fifth place in the 1600; and Lindsey Brooks finished third in the 800 meters and a fourth place in the high jump. Claiming fourth-place finishes for Ronan were Brant Heiner in the 3200 and Landon Lynch in the shot put, while Makenzie Rieken threw a fifth-place finish in the shot put.

 

Tennis

Polson Pirates

In the Bitterroot on Friday, the Polson boys and girls tennis teams split with the boys and girls Corvallis squad. The Pirates fell 6-1, while the Lady Pirates narrowly slipped by with a 4-3 win. 

In late afternoon matches against Hamilton, the Pirates defeated the broncs 4-1 and the Lady Pirates shutout the Lady Broncs 7-0.
