The Mission Bulldogs basketball team faced its first test of the season and walked away 1-1. The boys’ team picked up a win over Belt, 59-42, and a loss to Three Forks, 44-48.

“They played their hearts out,” head coach Patrick Irvin said, adding that the Bulldogs could have pulled out two wins if not for foul trouble.

Three starters fouled out late in the game, which helped Three Forks edge Mission in the third quarter.

Dylan Evans led in scoring in the Belt game with 18 points.

“(Evans) played almost every minute of the game,” Irvin said. “He led us in scoring and in leadership.”

Irvin mentioned that Evans made a high percentage of his shots, sinking eight of his 11 scoring attempts.

In the loss to Big Forks, Irvin noted the hustle of Nikko Alexander, who scored seven.

On Tuesday, the team faces Charlo away and Deer Lodge at home on Thursday.
