Volleyball

Arlee Scarlets

The Arlee Scarlets volleyball team fell 1-3 (28-24, 26-28, 25-27, 12-25) to the Seeley Swan Lady Blackhawks in a non-conference game Thursday in Seeley.

Charlo Lady Vikings

In preseason warm up action, the Charlo Lady Vikings headed to Philipsburg for the Granite Tournament. In pool play action, the Lady Vikes defeated Twin Bridges, Darby, Gardiner and split a game apiece with Seeley-Swan. During bracket action, Charlo defeated Valley Christian to advance into the championship round where they fell to Gardiner.

Mission Lady Bulldogs

In St. Ignatius on Saturday, the Mission Lady Bulldogs hosted a seven-team volleyball season tip off, which included teams from Loyola, Eureka, Noxon, Deer Lodge, Anaconda and Plains. No scores were available at press time.

Ronan Maidens & Polson Lady Pirates

The Polson Lady Pirates and Ronan Maidens competed in this weekend’s Southwest vs. Northwest Tip-Off Tournament at the Butte Civic Center. Both volleyball squads finished Friday’s pool play with identical 2-4 records. On Saturday in the championship rounds, Dillon defeated the Lady Pirates 23-15, 25-17, 15-14 in the third-place match, while Stevensville overpowered the Maidens 25-15, 25-22 for fourth place.

 

Cross Country

Competing in the Corvallis Cross Country Invite in Corvallis on Saturday, Ronan Chief James Normandeau outpaced the pack and placed first in the boys section of the race with a time of 17:19. Teammate Brant Heiner placed third with a time of 18:03, and Zarec Couture finished with a time of 18:48 for sixth.

 

Football

Arlee Warriors

The Arlee Warriors posted their first win on the season with a 64-18 game against the Troy Trojans. The Warriors return home on Friday by hosting cross county and district rivals the Charlo Vikings.

Charlo Vikings

In Friday’s home and season opener the Charlo Vikings hosted the Plains Horsemen. The Horsemen defeated the Vikings in a Western Class C game with the score coming in at 8-0. 

Mission Bulldogs

On Saturday afternoon, the Mission Bulldogs trounced the hosting Victor Pirates 42-0. Bulldog running back Troy Matt lead the Bulldogs with three touchdowns, scoring on runs of 45, 11 and 13 yards. Canyon Sargent, Isaac Dumontier and Ian Killorn each scored a rushing touchdown for the Bulldogs.

Ronan Chiefs

On the road Friday evening, the Ronan Chiefs fell 44-0 to the Browning Indians. 

 

Soccer

Polson Lady Pirates

The Polson Lady Pirates fell 7-3 during Thursday evening’s soccer home opener against the Columbia Falls Wildkats. Sophia Moderie, Autumn Burland and Sarah Kinzle each scored a goal for the Lady Pirates.

Polson Pirates

Tristan Snyder scored the lone goal for the Polson Pirates during Thursday evening’s soccer home opener against the Columbia Falls Wildcats. The goal came at the 12-minute mark in the 4-2 loss against the Wildcats.

 

Golf

The Ronan High School Golf Team hosted the Ronan Invitational golf tournament on Thursday at the Mission Mountain Golf Course in Ronan. The Polson Lady Pirates placed second as a team shooting a score of 397, followed by Ronan with a score of 412 for fourth place. Cali Cannon led the Polson girls with a score of 94, which tied her for fifth place with Ronan Maiden Macao Jackson. Both the Ronan and Polson boys squads scored a team total of 381, tying for sixth place among a field of nine teams. Polson Pirate Trey Kelley shot a fifth place 77.
