Soccer

The Polson Pirates 2019 soccer season came to an end in Laurel Saturday as the Pirates struggled to derail the Laurel Locomotives in Class A state soccer quarter-final action. After a scoreless first half, the Locomotives picked up steam and scored four goals in the second half for the 4-0 win over the Pirates. 

In the Class A girls soccer quarterfinals, Polson Lady Pirate Sophia Moderie scored a goal in the first half as the Lady Pirates fell 9-1 to the Billings Central Lady Rams on Saturday in Billings.

 

Football

Ronan Chiefs 

On Thursday evening, the Ronan Chiefs fell 48-12 to the visiting Dillon Beavers. The Chiefs scored two passing touchdowns. Matthew Victor caught a 69-yard pass in the first quarter from Eric Dolence and  Kolby Reum snagged a 25-yard touchdown pass from Daniel Kelsch in the fourth quarter. 

Charlo Vikings

Charlo Vikings’ Roper Edwards scored on a four-yard touchdown run, and Braydon Zempel snagged a 25-yard touchdown pass from Wrangler Gaustad in a 42-14 road loss to the Darby Tigers on Friday evening.

Polson Pirates

Quarterback Bo Kelley connected with Polson Pirate wide receivers for two touchdown passes (nine-yards and 63-yards) on Friday night in a 35-12 loss on the road to Butte Central.

Arlee Warriors

On the road Saturday afternoon, the Arlee Warriors trounced the Pirates 64-14 in Class C conference action. Arlee jumped out to a 28-0 lead in the first quarter and held a 44-6 advantage over the Pirates as they headed into the locker room at halftime.

 

Volleyball

Mission Lady Bulldogs

In a Class B volleyball matchup, the Mission Lady Bulldogs fell in straight sets, 19-25, 7-25, 22-25, to the visiting Thompson Falls Lady Blue Hawks on Tuesday, Oct. 15. On Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs fell 14-25, 22-25, 22-25 to the hosting Eureka Lady Lions. As a team, the Mission squad had 21 kills, five blocks and six aces.

Charlo Lady Vikings

Kira McPhail had eight kills and six blocks and teammate Connor Fryberger had 22 assists for the Class C Charlo Lady Vikings on Thursday evening in a four-set 21-25, 25-8, 13-25, 12-25 loss on the road against Class B Thompson Falls. For the Lady Vikings, Bella Hawk floored three aces and Carlee Fryberger had 16 digs.
