News from the Montana Department of Transportation

LAKESIDE – The Montana Department of Transportation would like to announce and invite the public to comment on a proposal to resurface about 9.1 miles of U.S. Highway 93, north and south of Lakeside.

The project begins just north of Presbyterian Camp Road, 4.9 miles south of Lakeside and extends north for 9.1 miles ending approximately 500 feet south of the Old US Highway 93 intersection 4.2 miles north of Lakeside at mile post 102.0.

Proposed work includes removing the upper layer of pavement and replacing with new pavement (in isolated sections), applying a thin overlay, upgraded pavement markings, signage, centerline and shoulder rumble strips. The purpose of the project is to preserve the existing pavement to extend the service life and enhance roadside safety.

The project is tentatively scheduled for construction in 2021, depending on completion of all project development activities and availability of funding. New Right-of-Way or utility relocations will likely not be needed.

Montana Department of Transportation welcomes the public to provide ideas and comments on the proposed project. Comments may be submitted online at http://www.mdt.mt.gov/mdt/comment_form.shtml or in writing to Montana Department of Transportation, Missoula office at PO Box 7039, Missoula, MT  59807-7039. Please note that comments are for project CN 9706000.

The public is encouraged to contact Missoula District Administrator Bob Vosen at 406-523-5802 or Project Design Engineer Joshua Dold at 406-444 6385 for additional information.
