DIXON — On Friday, the Dixon Volunteer Fire Department responded to an early afternoon call of a trailer house fire on A Street in Dixon.
There was one occupant in the home who made it out safely, but Jack Athearn, who is on the board of directors for the Dixon Volunteer Fire Department, said the trailer was fully engulfed when they arrived. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The Dixon department sent out a mutual aid call to Ronan, Charlo and St. Ignatius Fire Departments because they were short several people. Ronan and Charlo responded, but the St. Ignatius Fire Department had to turn around to respond to a chimney fire in St. Ignatius.
According to Ray Frey, the chimney fire at 208 St. Mary’s Lake Rd. did not cause any damage to the home.
The St. Ignatius Fire Department cleaned and disassembled the elbow of the chimney in order to put out the fire. The owner was told to clean all the creosote out before using the chimney again.
