News from the K. William Harvey Memorial Scholarship
RONAN – Congratulations to Ronan High School seniors Brooklyn Kenelty and Christian Silgen for being selected to each receive a $1,000 K. William Harvey Memorial Scholarship for 2020.
K. William Harvey was Superintendent of Ronan School District from 1968 to 1982. Jay W. Preston Sr., (1928 – 2019), former owner of Access Montana, (Ronan Telephone Company), served on the school board during part of Harvey’s time as superintendent. After Harvey died, Access Montana established this scholarship in his honor in 1989.
The scholarship recipients have been selected every year for the last 31 years by Betty Harvey and a representative of the Preston family and Access Montana. This year, two recipients were chosen. Brooklyn Kenelty and Christian Silgen’s applications and goals for the future are very impressive.
This fall, Brooklyn plans to attend Carroll College to study elementary education. Christian plans to attend Montana Technical University to study biological sciences. “We wish them both the best in their education and careers,” officials for K. William Harvey said.
The scholarships will be awarded to these outstanding recipients after the successful completion of their first semester of college.
